The chemicals released into the soil may make the soil more fertile in the long run.

The CO2 by the volcano happened to be less than the  Pollution released by air travel, so less pollution occurred because there are less flights.

Iceland is located in a tectonically active area. On a constructive plate boundary where Europe and america are moving away from each other, Iceland is on the mid-Atlantic ridge. As the continents drift volcanoes are being formed .

This has an advantage because geothermal resources supply almost a quarter of the country's energy needed. However the eruptions create multiple hazards

Eyjafjallajökull is one of the smaller ice caps in Iceland, it is in the north of Skógar and to the west of Mýrdalsjökull. The ice cap covers the caldera of a volcano with an elevation of 1,651 meters

Volcanologists had the first hint in December of 2009, then in February 2010 ground deformation was detected. The first eruption was on 20th march 2010.
